I have long been interested in protecting amazingly beautiful landscapes in the physical world from harm.  Unfortunately, that protection has been quite impossible to achieve, given the political and demographic realities to address, including the incompetence of journalists in relation to reporting the truth.

We are not interested in superficial comments and ill-reasoned opinions.

Perhaps you are even quite shocked that I am addressing you this way, particularly as I have also been attempting to encourage you to become more aware of the uniqueness of your own mind and the universality of the human condition.

What is your current approach to investing in awareness, and why?

Perhaps you have been doing so through attending storytime here, or elsewhere.

Everything I do is in the public interest, even when acting privately.

You are currently interacting with the words of a persona I occasionally present to the digital public.

For reasons of privacy and safety, the persona called The Author.

I have no interest in contributing to fights of any sort.

I have also done my best to avoid taking flights, for many years.

I want all people to take their cultural and political leadership responsibilities seriously.

That cannot happen easily for any person with human or animal dependents to manage as an understandable priority. 

Your current priority is apparently to read this guidebook, even if you do not yet regard yourself as one of the official patrons of this library and/or various ethereal and/or groups, organisations and activities in this digital vicinity.

There is nothing more I can do without your assistance to transform politics for the better in the 21st century, in any part of the world.

I have already provided all the necessary guidance, with the assistance of Twaklin and her associates.

There are no people in political leadership positions willing to provide the laws I require, or the leadership life on Earth urgently needs.

How are you investing in suitably clear boundaries, and how do you know?

I know that parliaments and other legislative chambers, and governments and other public administrations, are not "elected" by the people.

Parliaments, for example, are mostly filled with people filling the criteria established by political donors and the self-serving leaders of various self-serving organisations. 

Leadership is all about providing guidance.

Good leadership is about having a satisfactory sense of direction, an informed understanding of the journey along the way, and accurate expectations of the selected destination.

My earlier goal, of course, as part of my former public mission, was to help you make the world a much better place than it would be without you.

I am seeking evidence from you on what my next goal should be.

Which world have you been attempting to make better, and is it the real one?

How carefully have you distinguished between the Earth and the world?

Most people in positions of leadership within communities, societies and international organisations fail to acknowledge the variety of problems people face on a day-to-day basis.

Real leaders try to understand their own needs accurately. 

When people ignore their own needs, they fail to understand limits.

Real leaders understand limits.

Of course, you and I could forget about investing in justice and ignore the need for constitutional reform in various parts of the world.  But such a choice would not help to make the world, or the Earth, a better place than it would be without us.

To improve my mental and physical constitutions, I have long been investing in the experience of art.

Real world leaders do not experience pride when achieving a goal.  Instead, they feel relieved when the goal is achieved.

They tolerate well-informed admiration of their achievements but detest adulation.  They are not interested in acquiring fans, except when seeking to keep cool.

They maintain dignity through well-developed personal boundaries.

They do their best to avoid hubris.

They have no interest in seeking fame.

They are entirely devoted to maintaining the reasonableness, civility, compassion and honesty of their credibility.

They know than real leadership has nothing to do with the control or acquisition of money, except through the practice of intelligent frugality.

How well have you been investing your time in learning enlightening crafts and developing leadership skills in practical ways?

There is no point in attempting to become one of the registered patrons here if you have no talent for appropriate leadership.

Few persons in leadership positions, anywhere in the world, have ever possessed such a talent.

To ensure Frugality Cottage is never overly crowded, human fans are actively discouraged from arriving here.  Such persons tend to be ill-informed enthusiasts rather than real world leaders.  They devote too much attention to their obsessions and not enough towards creating world peace, preventing wastefulness, being nice to nature and being acceptably pleasant human beings more generally.

After passing through the social media gateway into the garden of Frugality Cottage, you will have noticed that the pathway widens.  There are also smaller pathways leading from it, winding their way through the garden.

There is no lawn.  There are gravel paths and brick paths and mulch paths, for those able to venture along them.

Plants tumble and jumble.  There is no heavy pruning.  There is no topiary.

Every specially planted plant in the garden has human uses.

The weeds are never killed with chemicals.  They are made into compost.

The soil is healthy.  It is alive.

How do you usually think about life?

How are you currently investing in life, and how do you know you are doing so reasonably well?

Real leadership does not involve parasocial relationships.

Nor does it encourage parasocial interactions.

Real leadership encourages everyone to become better at leadership.

How do you attempt to lead by example?

Would you like the guide to lead you on an adventure into your true feelings and true history? 

My expertise is often sought by enlightened leaders associated with the provision of quaternary education.

Who seeks your expertise, and why?
  

I prefer working with ideas rather than directly with people.  I have trained several assistants to work as supervisors on my behalf, at least in terms of the less demanding aspects of my job. 

How do you compare leadership with patronage?

The purpose of patronage is to improve productivity in terms of quality, if not in terms of quantity.

I, of course, do not require any financial patrons, for any reasons whatsoever.

I do require supportive patrons in other ways, particularly as I prefer not to perform any administrative tasks myself, or any other sorts of drudgery for that matter.

I do not have time.  

And I much prefer a quiet life.  That is how my creativity arises.   

I have never curated aspects of my life for public perusal in an effort to acquire money from the public.  I have, instead, done so in the public interest, for the common good, as a contribution towards enhancing civility in the world.

I hope you are adequately in the picture about my life, and your life, and all lives.

There are many types of keys and many sorts of doors and many types of guides in the world.  They are all products of culture.

There are many types of mats and many types of visitors and many types of investments.  All are associated with culture.

There are many types of frocks and many types of rocks and many types of locks and many types of handles and many types of cottages and many types of proof and many types of roofing.  

You are likely to be well aware, by now, that Frugality Cottage is not currently the residence of anyone.  Nor is it a touristy sort of location, even though most of the persons arriving here do so as virtual tourists of the self-guided variety.

In politics, and in society more generally, there is often an absence of genuine virtue.  There is often aggressive behaviour including passive-aggressive behaviour.

On the right of the political spectrum is the identity politics of delusional superiority.  It is often associated with misguided beliefs about race, gender, socioeconomic status, former and ongoing educational affiliations, religious affiliations, political affiliations, sporting prowess, military activities, language attributes, tastes and/or national identity.

On the left of the political spectrum is the identity politics of groupthink and contrived solidarity.  It is silly and selfish, and possibly even cowardly and/or delusional, to comply with known unreasonableness of any sort.

All aggressive competitiveness is self-indulgent.  It may misguidedly be viewed as playful.  It is, instead, an expression of hostility, even towards the self.

When people aggressively compete with each other, and even compete with themselves, they fail to be true to themselves.  They fail to acknowledge the true and the good.  Instead, they fall into the trap of self-indulgence.

How do you prevent yourself from being abusive or otherwise self-indulgent and/or spiteful?

I have found that many misguided people either mistake aggression for amusement or they mistake aggression for seriousness or they use aggression in place of amusement and seriousness.

That indicates they have never experienced appropriate leadership and are unlikely ever to provide it themselves.

For many years, I attempted to welcome the ordinary public into my world as suitably as possible.

Yet ordinary people really only want to stay within their own world. They want me to conform to their expectations, even when it is physically and mentally and morally and financially impossible for me to do so.

For many years, I tried my best, with patience and courtesy, time and time again, to improve my relationships with bullies.  Yet bullies always take advantage of such situations.

I did not realise, at the time, that the persons involved were bullies.  I merely thought they had high expectations of me.  I did not realise that I had the right to be treated with patience and courtesy. 

I have welcomed you into my creative world quite often over the past decade or so, through a sense of duty.

My duty is not to please people directly.  My duty is to improve the world.  I believe you have a similar duty.

I have taken very serious vows and therefore continue to seek the improvement of the world for as long as I am able to make a contribution, with or without your assistance.

I additionally have a duty to admonish you as gently as possible.

Unfortunately, I am yet to receive sufficient evidence, either directly or indirectly, that you are worthy of my attentiveness and concern other than through my admonishment services. 

For the next stage of my existence in the world of ordinary mortals, which may possibly be very short indeed, I hope to continue assessing who is deserving of my time and attention, and my use of other resources, and who is not.

How do your investments compare with my own?

I am not seeking to persuade you to do anything.  I am merely attempting to invite you to learn how to improve your leadership.

I have experienced much cruelty during my lifetime, including in Adelaide.

How do you intend to help me recover from that suffering?

Only my experiences of kindness and the practice of writing and the expression of good faith and the enjoyment of good food and peace and good humour and good company and beautiful old furniture and beautiful art and beautiful orchards and healthy gardens and flourishing natural surroundings make my life feel worthwhile. 

What makes your life worthwhile?

I am appreciative when people appreciate the writings I share.  Even so, I write mainly because it gives me pleasure, most of the time. 

Without the ability to write notes for your perusal, I would have very little power at all.

And I know that all power corrupts, as does most influence.

That is why I am not seeking any more power.  I only wish to ensure overly powerful persons do not have excessive influence over my life, and yours.

Many people have made unfair demands on my time over my lifetime, hence I am very well aware of what is a delightful invitation, what is a reasonable request, what is a lovely opportunity and what is a rude demand.

Perhaps you are seeking this digital guidebook to be a guide to life, but whose life?

Perhaps you have mainly expected my notes here to be entertaining in themselves rather than enlightening.

As I have unfortunately found that most people prefer topics I consider to be boring, such as ignorant opinions about trivialities and various stupid ideas about public policies, I prefer to invest in relationships and reforms in ways of my own choosing, subject to suitable guidance from the Spirit of Enlightenment and the Council of Enlightenment. 

I especially wish to contribute more effectively to world peace.  I also wish you would do the same.

 Most assessments in the ordinary world of mortals do not assess reality at all. That is especially the case for ordinary self-assessments.

I have mostly found people's ideas of normality to be boring, primarily as a consequence of their inaccurate opinions, irresponsible extravagances and unfair assumptions about me and the wider world. 

Their misguided self-assessments have been particularly tedious from my point of view.

How do you compare local life with global life and community life?

How much do you value your life?

How much do you respect scarcity, and how do you know?

How much do you value peace and privacy and quality and frugality, and where is your proof? 

Through my former experiences as a volunteer virtual tour guide, I had usually been expected, by the Council of Enlightenment and/or by the Spirit of Enlightenment, to consider sharing importantly useful information with strangers, such as yourself, yet most people are merely interested in interesting information, not important information.

As a continuing volunteer, but no longer a tour guide, I am obviously not paid in monetary ways to share important information with you, or even merely interesting information.

How have you already advanced your education in this digital vicinity, and how do you know?

How have you been investing in quality of life, and in which direction and/or location, and why? 

Many selfish people misguidedly believe they are expressing freedom when they ignore their social and financial obligations.  They are, in reality, merely being selfish.  

Appropriately accomplished patrons have the chance to learn how to guide imaginative and unimaginative visitors safely around Frugality Cottage.

That first requires considerable knowledge of the history of the cottage, and of the world.

It also requires a sufficiently advanced acquaintance with various crafts and other skills, including the communication skills associated with enlightened empathy and insightful statecraft.

Where have you already sought opportunities for your further improvement, and why?

For health reasons, both physically and psychologically, I prefer to focus my attention on enjoyable efforts, whether I am writing, reading, assessing investment options, conducting research, developing remarkable technologies, providing guidance to my assistants, helping to run a household, practicing philanthropy, maintaining my marriage, conserving natural and cultural resources and heritage, advancing science, encouraging the arts, or attempting to support the improvement of public policies and various communities.

How have you been addressing urgency?

Assessing whether an investor or political candidate or philosopher or guide to religious or spiritual or business practices is good, or not, is a highly skilled occupation, of course, which is why your advanced skills are required for the task.

Where have you been providing enlightened patronage

Unfortunately, I have yet to find any sign that you have a talent for political leadership.

That is obviously very disappointing.  It is especially disappointing for the Council of Enlightenment under the wise guidance of the Spirit of Enlightenment.

I am entirely dedicated to my sense of duty.  I always have been dedicated.  My loyalty to enlightenment is beyond question.  
 
Yet few people are willing to make the commitments I insist upon if I am to invest my time in their quaternary training and moral development.

How are you investing in reasonable momentum, and how do you know?

Over the years, quite a few people have misguidedly sought to develop friendships with me when they have really only wanted my (unpaid) therapeutic assistance and/or voluntary support. They have offered me nothing I would value in return.

Real friendship is about thoughtful reciprocity, not dependence, or coercion, or intrusion, or wastefulness, or insensitivity, or ignorance, or bribery, or any other form of unpleasantness.

There are many unkind persons in and near metropolitan Adelaide.

They pretend to be kind, superficially, until they are asked to respond appropriately to distress. They then respond with apathy and sometimes even rudeness.

They have no respect for the truth. They have no desire to work in the interests of peace.

They have no interest in protecting my health and supporting its improvement. They have no real sense of justice.

They misguidedly accept deceptive information at face value. They are gullible. They are cruel. They are greedy.

But such people exist in every city. They also exist in most smaller urban areas, and in rural areas.

If you are one of those people, you have stolen my hope.

I will not waste my time on you, or on people similar to you.

But if I am mistaken, and you are truly well-informed and kind, then I will be delighted to receive the evidence.

I have received no evidence that you display appropriate initiative. That is obviously very disappointing to me, and to the Council of Enlightenment.

For a considerable time now, each Monday afternoon, local time, I have provided you with an investment note here containing more personal information than my usual writings.

I have done so in order to measure your empathy, civility, initiative and imagination. 

In initiating the series of notes, here in this virtual library, I had the hoped that by investing my time and emotions in such a way, you would have provided hope to me, and possibly to many other people.I am yet to find any evidence that I should continue to maintain such a hope.  You are apparently too ordinary.

Do you give much thought towards carefulness when you are being creative?

The momentum to transform the world's political, economic and judicial systems into fair and reasonable servants of well-informed kindness will never happen unless a substantial majority of people are willing to co-operate reasonably to develop, implement and maintain those transformed and transformational systems.

I have completed the initial work myself. I have done so by studying history and geography very carefully indeed. 

My research and findings support the feasibility studies initiated by the Council of Enlightenment.

The council receives its research questions from the Spirit of Enlightenment.

Sometimes, I receive research questions directly from the Spirit of Enlightenment and sometimes those questions reach me through the Council of Enlightenment.

You are unlikely to be appropriately registered as a patron of the work here yet, according to the evidence my assistants and I have collected.  You apparently lack the necessary initiative, the necessary curiosity, the necessary ethics and the necessary creativity. 

I have long been aware that many people are untrustworthy. They tell lies to cover their own selfishness and incompetence, and their own fears and mistakes.  They often mistake superficial charm for genuine friendliness, even in themselves.  

Far too many people mistake wishful thinking for real hope.  They mistake short-term success for long-term value.  They mistake popularity for appropriateness.  They mistake decision-making for leadership. 

How do you attempt to prevent yourself from making mistakes? 

Far too many people follow instructions, and orders, given them by individuals and groups seeking unjustified control over other people's lives, thereby preventing people from making well-informed, individual and collective decisions.

Perhaps you have been following instructions, possibly by failing to question whether they are actually worth following.

I certainly do not provide instructions, or any form of advice.  I merely point out possibilities and opportunities. 

The foolish people who mistake superficial charm for well-informed kindness cause me to feel considerable despair.

Would I feel better being deluded rather than despairing?

Would I feel better being stupid enough to admire the cruel?

Perhaps you have not yet read through this guidebook and the associated investment notes attentively enough.

Perhaps you have not yet studied my words deeply enough.

Perhaps you have not yet attempted to answer my questions thoughtfully enough.

Overcoming claims of educational scarcity can easily be achieved by teaching people how to provide early childhood education, primary education, secondary education, tertiary education, lifelong education and quaternary education.

Perhaps you have compiled guidebooks and/or textbooks on those educational practices.

Yet useful studies are not necessarily associated with education directly.  They are associated with solving problems associated with greed, laziness and ignorance.

How and where do you usually display your well-informed, voluntary initiative as a real world leader, and to whom, and for whose benefit, and why? 

I have been placing my entire hope in you for a considerable time, hence my current impatience.  

My research continues to suggest you are neither overly selfish nor overly greedy though obviously I may be mistaken.  You may, in fact, be highly deceptive. 

What are your expectations in relation to my ongoing productivity, particularly regarding the continuing production of my investment notes?

Industry, by definition, involves investing time in proper productivity through investing in continuity, as reasonably and conscientiously as necessary. 

Yet I am not involved directly in any industries apart from the kindness industry.  

I am mostly involved in investment practices associated with the expression of well-informed kindness.

You are currently investing time in the continuity of my well-informed kindness towards you.  If you are doing so in good faith, what does that really mean in practice?

There is much important work still happening in my highly independent laboratory. That work never stops.

The ongoing findings are likely to be of immense societal consequence, in every society, into perpetuity.

The investigations have involved identifying and solving urgent problems, whether associated with time, or the lack of it, continuity, or the lack of it, or reasonableness, or or the lack of it 

You may already know that some medical research is exceedingly well funded while other necessary research, into common and less common ailments, receives little funding. 

That discrepancy indicates that the assessors of funding applications lack appropriate empathy.  That is particularly evident when they have never personally suffered from the ailments usually ignored by well-funded scientific researchers.

I am one of the sufferers long ignored. 

Quietly investing in reasonableness has always been important to me.  I associate reasonableness with peacefulness, elegance and egalitarianism. 

Training the patrons here to become enlightened world leaders requires the trainees to express appropriate initiative whenever and wherever necessary.  

Only patrons are qualified to become trainees.

How have you been assessing the quality of your patronages recently?

Perhaps you mainly assess your experiences as a patron in terms of personal enjoyment rather than in terms of improving your leadership.

What do you believe to be the qualities of a good leader?

How do you usually decide upon the initiative you are capable of expressing?

I have invited you to explore possibilities, identify ethically advanced opportunities and express your enlightened initiative.

My investment notes and educational notes to you, here in the virtual Frugality Cottage library, are primarily intended to express my philanthropic values, my community values, my creative values and my philosophical values.

Most people have been excluded from my philanthropic attention as a consequence of their unreasonableness.

They have not responded appropriately to my open invitations.  Nor have they adequately appreciated my openness to experiencing their points of view.  

Such people have probably contributed nothing towards improving the world.
